Democrats Still Trying To Ban M855

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives may be hacking off, but some gun-grabbers are not. Four members of the United States House of Representatives are now trying to pass a law that would ban the green-tip M855 round.

According to a report by, Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) introduced legislation known as the “Armor Piercing Bullets Act,” along with three other Democratic members of the House. Engel has regularly received F grades from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund.

“Armor piercing rounds like green tips should only be in the hands of military personnel or police officers, period. There is absolutely no compelling argument to be made for anyone else to have access to them,” Engel said in a release announcing proposed legislation, which has been designated H.R. 1358.

BATFE received over 90,000 comments on their proposed framework, most of which opposed the proposed ammo ban.
