More Syrian Troops Deploy Along Lebanese Border
Syria has reportedly deployed more troops along its border with Lebanon, allegedly to “combat smuggling.” Meanwhile a Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman is denying reports that Syria has withdrawn troops from its border with Iraq in retaliation for a weekend raid on a Syrian border town which Damascus blames on the United States.
Syria Protests Alleged US Raid on Syrian Border Town
Syrian officials are protesting a raid on the Syrian border village of Sukkariya, summoning the U.S. and Iraqi Charge d’affaires in Damascus. Syria says U.S. forces conducted the raid, and that eight people were killed and 14 wounded.
