Consequence of Obama’s Withdrawal Becomes Clear
By Harold Hutchison

The resurgence of al-Qaeda can be directly linked to Barack Obama’s decision to withdraw troops from Iraq at the end of 2011, a number of experts have said.

According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon, the withdrawal of troops made it easier for al-Qaeda affiliates to regain ground by creating a vacuum. Most notably has been al-Qaeda’s Iraqi affiliate now becoming the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

While Obama claimed that the core leadership of al-Qaeda was “on a path to defeat” in his State of the Union address, one of the experts, a professor and historian at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College named Douglas Streusand, said about al-Qaeda’s resurgence in Iraq, “This has happened on the watch of the current administration and the current administration has yet to demonstrate that it has either the will or the capacity to deal with it.”
