Columnist, Fox News Host Questioned By FEC in 1990s
By Harold Hutchison

Retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel Ollie North, who won a Silver Star in Vietnam, and who was a central figure in the Iran-Contra matter, was heavily questioned about prayers on his behalf by Pat Robertson by the Federal Election Commission while Lois Lerner was serving as the head of that agency’s enforcement office.

According to 2003 testimony by attorney James Bopp, FEC investigators questioned Col. North about prayers on his behalf. Bopp’s testimony from a decade ago has come back to light given Lerner’s involvement in the IRS scandal surrounding the targeting of Tea Party and conservative organizations.

Among the questions Col. North was asked was “During the time that you knew Pat Robertson, was it your impression that he had – he was praying for you?”

At least one pro-life group was asked about the content of its prayers by the IRS in 2009.

Col. North’s column has been a long-time feature in SOF.
