At least two soldiers have been wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood. A statement by the installation's press center said, "There has been a shooting at Fort Hood and injuries are reported. Emergency crews are on the scene. No further details are known at this time."

A message posted on the Facebook page for the base and III Corps about 50 minutes ago stated, "All personnel on post are asked to shelter in place."

KHOU.com reported at least one person was dead. Fox News reported that "the threat of one shooter" had ended, but that a second shooter may still be on the loose.

A report from the Killeen Daily Herald stated that at least two ambulances were seen heading to the base, and that the shooting took place at the 1st Medical Brigade building.

The base was the scene of the 2009 unacknowledged terrorist attack carried out by Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people before responding security officers stopped the attack.
