The Ukrainian oblast of Donetsk has reportedly broken away from the Ukraine, and has now asked to join Russia. The secession comes after a 11 May referendum that some observers claim was fraudulent.

Three Americans Killed by Hospital Security Guard

Three American doctors were killed during an insider – or “green on blue” – attack on a hospital in the Afghan capital of Kabul. The Cure International Hospital reported that at least one other person, a nurse, was wounded.

According to media reports, this was the second “green on blue” attack to target Western civilians as opposed to NATO troops. Earlier this month, a journalist with the Associated Press was killed in an attack carried out by an Afghan police officer.
