Issa Demands Documents From State Department

Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has officially subpoenaed records from the State Department in the ongoing probe into the Obama Administration’s handling of the 11 September, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

MUSLIM ARRESTED IN STABBING OF FRENCH SOLDIER

Suspect Was Recent Convert to Islam

A 22-year-old man was arrested in the 25 May stabbing of a French soldier in a Paris suburb. The suspect, who at the time had been described as a tall man with a beard, was a recent convert to Islam.

The wounded French soldier, Pvt. Cédric Cordiez, had suffered a stab wound in his neck in the attack, which came three days after two men shouting “Allah akbar” killed a British soldier in the Woolwich area of London.

Now, are these attacks a coincidence, or are they a new form of “lone wolf” terrorists carrying out jihad?

TANKER HIJACKED OFF NIGERIA

Hijacking Overshadows Counter-Terror Success

An oil tanker was hijacked off the coast of Nigeria, the 19th pirate attack off the West African country this year. In the attack, a number of crewmen from Nigeria and Pakistan were taken from the MT Matrix.

The attack, the latest in an increasing number in the Gulf of Guinea, overshadowed a counter-success by the Nigerian government. The government managed to break up a terror attack in the city of Maiduguri in the northeastern part of the country, where violence Christian and Muslims has often occurred.

The State Department official who was active in editing the talking points prepared for UN Ambassador Susan Rice’s appearance on Sunday talk shows has been nominated to be Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian affairs. Victoria Nuland’s nomination will have to be confirmed by the US Senate.

Woolwich Incident Viewed As Terror Attack

A person believed to be a British soldier was beheaded on the street in Woolwich, England by two men who were shouting “Allah ackbar” as they carried out the attack. The attackers then went on to claim responsibility to an ITN News camera crew.

Gunmen Attack Police Station; Airstrikes Launched Against Militants

Islamist gunmen attacked a bank and a police station in the northwestern part of Nigeria. The attacks occurred across the country from the strongholds of Boko Haram, in the northeastern part of the country.

The Nigerian government launches air strikes against Boko Haram’s camps, killing a number of insurgents. According to a report by VOA News, a number of other camps have been taken over. Boko Haram had also carried out a number of attacks, including one that killed 50 people in Bama.

Piracy Also Rising Off Nigeria

The Islamist terror group Boko Haram is coming back despite a military crackdown in West Africa. The group has taken advantage of porous borders with Chad, Cameroon, and Niger to start taking control of the area around Lake Chad.

The Islamist group, whose name means “Western Education is sinful,” was founded in 2002 with the goal of establishing an Islamist state in the oil-rich nation. One recent operation bythe group killed 55 people and resulted in the freeing of 100 prisoners.

On Fox News Sunday, Congressman Mike Rogers (R-MI), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, predicted that more whistleblowers would come forward. Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee also said he was seeking depositions from officials.

Elite Anti-Terror Unit Also Captures 13

Elite Indonesian anti-terror personnel have killed seven terrorists and captured 13 more during operations in Java. The Indonesian government claimed that the terrorists were planning a number of attacks.

According to a report by VOA News, four of the terrorists were killed during a lengthy gun battle near Kebumen. Three others were killed in Bandung after a lengthy stand-off.
