AQI and ISI members pursued by Iraqi Police, 5 suspects arrested

Iraqi Police arrested five suspected members of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) and the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) terrorist organizations today during two joint security operations conducted in Diyala and Salah ad Din Provinces.   In Saytiyah, located approximately 110 km northeast of Baghdad, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched for an alleged member of ISI, who is known to be directly linked to AQI. The warranted individual is suspected of facilitating attacks in Baghdad from remote locations in Diyala Province.

Born in Virginia, sent to medical school by the U.S. Army, the psychiatrist was chastised for proselytizing to his patients about Islam.

ISF arrest 6 suspected VBIED-network members

Iraqi Security Forces arrested six individuals during two joint security operations today targeting members of al-Qaeda in Iraq-sponsored vehicle borne improvised explosive device networks. In Bayji, located approximately 102 km southwest of Kirkuk, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched several buildings during a warranted joint security operation in pursuit of VBIED network members operating across Salah ad Din Province.  During the search, individuals on the premises were questioned by Iraqi Police.

Iraqi, US forces detain car bomb suspects

Iraqi Security Forces arrested 13 people yesterday during three operations in connection with car-bomb networks between Baghdad and Kirkuk, military officials reported. Working with U.S. advisors, an Iraqi unit arrested a suspected member of a vehicle-bomb network in southern Kirkuk.

ISF arrest 2 during search of suspected terrorist safe house in Baghdad

Iraqi Security Forces arrested two individuals today during a joint security operation searching for a suspected terrorist safe house in northern Baghdad.   Iraqi Security Forces and U.S. advisors, searched one building in a northern Baghdad neighborhood allegedly used to house Lebanese Hizbollah terrorist members. Based on evidence found at the scene, the security team arrested two individuals suspected of acquiring illegal weapons and financing Lebanese Hizbollah operations.
