Dover C-5Ms complete test in surge operations

The C-5M Super Galaxy team has completed another stage of operational test and evaluation with the conclusion of surge operations at Dover AFB. The surge operations consisted of 31 days of delivering essential cargo and flying sorties nonstop, from Dover AFB to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, without refueling to test wartime contingency operations. "Our maintainers spent the last 12 months training for this big game. Not only are they hitting a home run with regards to operational test and evaluation, but they hit a grand slam during the surge.

Department Focuses on F-35 Costs, Fair Tanker Competition

Security forces train for deployment at Fort Dix

Nellis Airmen work behind the scenes to ensure exercise success

Every year, Airmen here support the largest air mobility exercise in the United States. This Mobility Air Forces Exercise, or MAFEX, is essential in making sure both Soldiers and Airmen are prepared to coordinate jointly during overseas contingencies. The MAFEX is part of the U.S. Air Force Weapon School curriculum designed to culminate months of training that the students have received and challenge them to plan and execute a joint forcible entry airborne assault operation, integrating assets from across the world.

Dolphins fly to New Caledonia with Hickam C-17 crew

Airmen aboard C-17 Globemaster IIIs from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam transported dolphins from the Navy Marine Mammals Program in San Diego, Calif., to Noumea, New Caledonia, Nov. 8 to locate and dispose of more than 200 contact mines that were leftover from World War II. The active-duty and Reserve C-17 aircrew from JB Hickam helped deliver the dolphins for Lagoon Minex 2009, a humanitarian project in which U.S. forces along with French, Australian and New Zealand military will work together Nov.

Airmen fly C-5M into U.S. record books

Airmen flew a C-5M Super Galaxy into the official record books Oct. 30 when a previous world-record-attempt flight was certified by U.S. National Aeronautic Association officials. A Dover Air Force Base, Del., aircrew flying a C-5M named The Spirit of Normandy consisted of eight 512th Airlift Wing reservists and four 436th Airlift Wing active-duty members set 41 records in a single flight that included various altitude, payload and time-to-climb records. Hurricane Hunters fly into Ida

The Air Force Reserve's Hurricane Hunters are flying non-stop into Hurricane Ida collecting critical weather data as the storm enters the Gulf of Mexico. The Hurricane Hunters of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron are assigned to the 403rd Wing and stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The team of reservists collected data to help determine the storm was gaining strength as it passed the Yucatan peninsula.
