Not many pistols can be labeled an overnight success as Springfield’s XD. While more than a few raised an eyebrow at the post Cold War Croatian 9mm creation when it was first imported, I bought one of the first ones and was amazed with its performance.

Amid the orderly transfer of power, our new Chief Executive has issued a call for responsibility. As is the case with most of his public statements, his meaning is not clear. However, if he means holding government officials accountable for their actions, a novel and great idea, it is something that we can all embrace.

In your January 2009 issue, you noted (page 60) the existence of "PKK thugs." Some would declare that the real thugs are the leaders of the Turkish government who deny the reality of the Kurdish people, calling them "Mountain Turks" and doing all that is possible to crush their independent culture in a way different from Saddam Hussein only in degree.
