Russia Delays Arms Delivery to Iran

Russia is delaying delivery of its S-300 air-defense system to Iran and is also calling for Tehran to adhere to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) guidelines for enrichment of nuclear fuel.  The moves follow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's two-day visit to Moscow. The Interfax News Agency quotes the deputy director of Russia's Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin, as saying delivery of the S-300 air defense system to Iran has been delayed by technical problems.

Suicide Bomber in Southern Russia Kills 6 Policemen

A suicide bombing in Russia's southern Dagestan republic Wednesday killed six policemen and wounded at least 16 other people. Authorities say a suicide bomber attempted to drive a car packed with explosives into a police station near Dagestan's capital, Makhachkala. Russian media report the blast left a two-meter wide crater, and that bomb fragments broke windows as far as 300 meters from the site. Medvedev: Russia to Develop New Nuclear Missiles

Russian Gas: Pipelines, Politics and Money

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned Ukraine he will cut off the country's gas supplies if it siphons fuel from export lines. Mr. Putin made the statement in Moscow following a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann. Russian Military Plane Crashes, 11 Dead

Russian authorities say a heavy-lift military cargo plane has crashed on takeoff in eastern Siberia, killing all 11 people on board. Investigators say the huge four-engine Ilyushin IL-76 had just taken off Sunday from Mirny, in the Yakutia region, when it rolled at an altitude of about 20 meters, crashed, and burst into flames. The plane, bound for the Siberian city of Irkutsk, went down in an open field about two kilometers from the runway. There were no reports of injuries on the ground.
