Taliban shadow governor targeted in Helmand

An Afghan and coalition security force detained several insurgents in Helmand province Tuesday while in pursuit of a Taliban shadow governor in Musa Qal'ah District.

During the course of the operation, four insurgents were also killed.

The commander also facilitates and leads improvised explosive device and direct fire attacks and handles funding for Taliban operations within his area.

As the security force approached the targeted compound south of the village of Kuchnay Regay in Musa Qal'ah District, insurgents immediately engaged them from several directions. Afghan and coalition forces returned fire, killing four insurgents. No Afghan or coalition forces were killed in the attack.

The security force found multiple automatic weapons and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher with a round with the insurgents.
