Gang of Eight Bill Passes First Hurdle
By Harold Hutchison

The Senate began debate on the “immigration reform” legislation after blowing past a filibuster against the motion to proceed on the legislation. The debate starting has included numerous amendments as well. Senator John Cornyn introduced a 134-page amendment that prohibits starting any pathway to citizenship or a green card for the approximately 11 million illegal immigrants believed to be in the country.

Cornyn’s amendment is described as a “poison pill” by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). The debate is ongoing. Contact your senators at (202)224-3121 and urge them to support the Cornyn Amendment and to oppose the bill.
