Security Forces Arrest Five Alleged Associates

Iraqi security forces arrested five people with suspected ties to the al-Qaida in Iraq terrorist organization in recent operations, military officials reported.

In Samarra today, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested a suspected criminal associate of an al-Qaida in Iraq member who allegedly is involved in vehicle-borne bombing attacks and has close ties to the organization’s senior leaders.

North of Baghdad yesterday, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested four suspected criminal associates while searching for an al-Qaida in Iraq financier who allegedly is responsible for planting roadside bombs targeting Iraqi and coalition forces.
