SAMS IN AL-QAEDA HANDS?
Document in Mali Raises New Fears
By Harold Hutchison
Al-Qaeda may be in possession of missiles capable of bringing down airliners. A manual captured in Mali by the Associated Press, reveals that the terrorist group that carried out the 11 September, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon now has access to shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.
The missiles in question are Russian-made SA-7s, code-named “Grail” by NATO. The missiles were widely exported by the former Soviet Union. The good news, if that, is that these are older missiles.
