RUBIO, INHOFE JOIN FILIBUSTER
Reinforcements for Rand Paul!
By Harold Hutchison
Two more Senators announced plans to join a filibuster in opposition to proposed gun-control legislation, the day after Senator Rand Paul and two others first made their intentions known. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and James Inhofe (R-OK) announced their decision yesterday.
The proposed gun legislation involves an expansion of background checks, however, the legislation is controversial due to the fact that transfers are very loosely defined and due to fears of gun registration. The underlying legislation was written by anti-gun zealot Charles Schumer, a Senator from New York.
The announcements come as Barack Hussein Obama ramped up pressure for his gun grabbing agenda. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group also tried to hold events as well. At the same time, a CBS poll revealed a drop in support for gun control from the immediate aftermath of Newtown.
