Afghan and coalition detained five insurgents and cleared four improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Aug. 21.

Ghazni province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an improvised explosive device in Muqer district.

Khowst province
Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces detained five insurgents during engagements in Sabari district. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Afghan Border Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared an improvised explosive device in Khowst district.

Wardak province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two improvised explosive devices in Chak-E Wardak district.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
