CBS Confirms Reporter Was Hacked

CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson’s computer has been hacked on multiple occasions, the network announced. The announcement came after an investigation by a cyber-security firm.
“Sharyl Attkisson’s computer was accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions late in 2012. Evidence suggests this party performed all access remotely using Attkisson’s accounts. While no malicious code was found, forensic analysis revealed an intruder had executed commands that appeared to involve search and exfiltration of data,” CBS News said in a statement.
Attkisson had drawn the wrath of the Obama Administration for her investigative reporting of Operation Fast & Furious, a failed gun trafficking investigation that allowed hundreds of guns to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, and the 11 September, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
In 2011, Soldier of Fortune awarded Attkisson a 2nd Amendment Freedom Fighter Award for her coverage of Fast & Furious.
