State Department Official’s E-mails Deleted
By Harold Hutchison
A Diplomatic Security Service employee who revealed cover-ups of wrongdoing in the State Department had a personal e-mail account hacked, leading to the loss of e-mails, some of which included evidence of wrongdoing.
Richard Higbie, who came forward earlier this year, alleged that senior State Department officials, including Cheryl Mills, who was chief of staff for then-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, obstructed investigations into soliciting underage prostitutes and other misconduct during Clinton’s tenure.
According to a report by the New York Post, Higbie also lost e-mails in which he discussed legal strategy with his attorney. Despite Higbie’s revelations, the scandal has been largely un-reported on. In July, the offices of Higbie’s lawyer, Cary Schulman, were burglarized and three computers were stolen.
