New Provisions Start in 2014, Trigger Run on Long Guns

People are making a run on buying rifles and shotguns in the state of California as a long-gun registry is about to go into effect on 1 January, 2014. The law creating the registry was signed in 2011.
“Since the state already retains handgun purchaser information, I see no reason the state should not also retain information pertaining to long gun sales,” Governor Jerry Brown said in a signing statement.
Second Amendment activists have long opposed gun registration, noting that it often makes confiscation easier. Confiscation has occurred in New York City, with notices making news this year. Registration lists were also used for confiscation in the United Kingdom and Australia.
