Militants Freed in Attack
By Harold Hutchison
As many as 250 militants were sprung from a Pakistani prison after an attack by the Pakistani Taliban. Local cops were outgunned and overwhelmed during the attack. A previous prison attack in April 2012 had freed a few hundred prisoners.
The alleged mastermind of the attack was one of those freed in the April, 2012, prison break. Adnan Rasheed had recently gained notoriety for an open letter to Malala Yousefzai, a 16-year-old girl shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban for promoting the education of women.
The Pakistani prison break comes less than a week after a prison break in Iraq resulted in 500 militants being sprung.
