The prosecutor who was investigating former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf over his alleged involvement in the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed in Islamabad.
Chaudhry Zulfiqar was en route to an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi in connection with the case surrounding the murder of Bhutto when he was killed by gunmen who attacked his car.
Another prosecutor handling the case told VOA News that the murder has caused problems in prosecuting the case. “Our witnesses are being threatened,” Mohammad Azhar Chaudhry said.
The slain prosecutor was also involved in the case against suspects tied to the 2008 attack in Mumbai, India that left 166 dead. The terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved in the attacks.
