Two bombings in the last two days have targeted candidates from an Islamist party running for seats in Pakistan’s parliament. At least 32 people have been killed in the murder-suicide attacks.
The bombing targeted Sayed Janan and Munir Orakzai, members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party. According to a report by VOA News, Orakzai was wounded in the earlier attack, for which the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility.
Pakistan is slated to hold elections Saturday, marking the first transition from one civilian government to another in the country’s history.
