Gun battles in Mexico over the weekend left 28 people dead, some of them suspected drug traffickers.
More than 35,000 people have died in the violence in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon began to crack down on drug cartels in Northern Mexico.
The incidents included an attack by gunmen on a bar that left 14 people dead. FoxNews.com reported that one of the other incidents was an ambush on Mexican troops, who turned the tables on their attackers and killed four of them in Nayarit.
This past week, American law enforcement carried out numerous raids in response to the murder of ICE agent Jaime Zapata. Over 700 suspects were arrested, according to a report from VOANews.com.
