CCW Permit Holder Halts Rampage
By Harold Hutchison
For the second time in thirteen months, a person holding a concealed carry permit has halted a mass shooting in the Portland area. This time, the shooting was in a Portland strip club.
According to media reports, after an earlier altercation at the Mystic Gentleman’s Club in Portland, a man returned with a gun and a Halloween mask, and started shooting. A patron at the bar with a concealed carry permit returned fire, seriously wounding the shooter. A security guard at the club was seriously wounded, while two others were treated and released.
In December, 2012, a mass shooting at the Clackamas Town Center in Clackamas, Oregon was halted when Nick Meli, a citizen with a CCW permit, drew his gun. The shooter stopped his attack, fled, and killed himself. The incident occurred days before the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
