Elite Indonesian anti-terror personnel have killed seven terrorists and captured 13 more during operations in Java. The Indonesian government claimed that the terrorists were planning a number of attacks.
According to a report by VOA News, four of the terrorists were killed during a lengthy gun battle near Kebumen. Three others were killed in Bandung after a lengthy stand-off.
“The terrorists are collecting funds for terror operations by conducting bank robberies. This is one indication they are preparing terror activities, after they have enough funds,” Indonesian police spokesman Boy Rafi Amar told VOA News.
Indonesian police had earlier thwarted an attack on the Burmese embassy, arresting two terrorists who had planned the attack in response to attacks on Moslems in Burma. In 2001, Indonesia was rocked by the bombing in Bali that left over 200 dead, most of them tourists.
