After Fast & Furious, Now Seeks “Gun-Tracking” Bracelets for Gun Owners

The Obama Administration has not given up on anti-Second Amendment schemes, and the latest one involves the tracking of gun owners. The reported method: Use of a special bracelet.
According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon, the Obama Administration is seeking $2 million for “gun safety technology” grants. Holder told a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, “I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe.”
A so-called “smart gun” mandate is in effect in New Jersey. A German company has reportedly developed a so-called “smart gun,” the Armatix iP1, that fires a .22 long rifle round. Some proposals have included implanting RFID chips into firearms as well as GPS trackers.
Holder has been under fire over Operation Fast & Furious, a supposed “gun trafficking” investigation that ended up handing hundreds of semi-automatic firearms to Mexican drug cartels. Holder has also been under fire for stonewalling Congressional investigations and has been held in contempt of Congress.
The total budget request for “gun safety” efforts by the Justice Department was $382.1 million.
