Erdogan Issues “Final Warning”
By Harold Hutchison
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a final warning to protestors in Gezi Park. The Islamist leader has been facing nearly two weeks of protest that have, at times, turned violent.
Erdogan has urged parents to “please take your children in hand and bring them out,” according to a report by VOA News. He has been in power since 2003, and since then has been jailing journalists to the point that Turkey, a NATO ally, is now regarded by the Committee to Protect Journalists as the worst in imprisoning journalists.
Is Turkey falling into despotism? Or are the protestors heralding a Turkish spring?
