Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund today announced the endorsement of Susana Martinez for governor of New Mexico.
“Martinez scored 100% on the GOA state survey and will be poised and ready to veto any and all legislation that threatens to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms,” said GOA-PVF Vice Chairman Tim Macy in a letter to supporters.
“Her opponent, current lieutenant governor Diane Denish, has a different view of personal protection. For example, consider her self-allocation of state funds for personal security.
“In 2008, Denish was allocated more than $100,000 of state taxpayer money with the intent that it be used to cover expenses for a state police security detail. Instead, she used the money to hire her own personal, private security personnel. That made Denish the first lieutenant governor in the state’s history to get public funds for personal security.
“Pro-gunner Susana Martinez, who is a 13-year District Attorney, relies on personal protection—as do the tens of thousands of law-abiding New Mexico citizens who own and carry firearms for self-defense.
“Martinez’s understanding of the Second Amendment is clear and simple: the most effective solution to crime and violence is to protect the citizens’ constitutional right of firearms ownership.
“Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Susana Martinez, and urges sportsmen and gun owners throughout New Mexico to support her campaign for Governor.”
