Power Station Attack Raises Alarms
By Harold Hutchison
An attack on a San Jose, California power station that disabled several transformers via the use of a sniper rifle is being viewed as a harbinger of more serious attacks. The attack is seen as a new threat to the country’s electric grid.
According to a report by Breitbart News, no arrests have been made in the sniper attack on the substation. Jon Wellinghof, a former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, has reportedly given secret briefings to the White House and Congress about the threat the nation’s electrical grid may face.
Much of the concern about protecting the nation’s electrical grid has centered around the use of an electro-magnetic pulse from a high-altitude nuclear detonation. However, experts have warned that the attack last year was not a case where “Billy-Bob and Joe decided, after a few brewskis, to come in and shoot up a substation.”
