Troops Hired As Hitmen

Mexican drug cartels are reportedly hiring American troops to serve as hitmen – often paying as little as $5,000 for a killing. More worrisome, in at least one case, one would-be contract killer discussed stealing weapons.
"We have seen examples over the past few years where American servicemen are becoming involved in this type of activity," Fred Burton, a vice president for STRATFOR Global Intelligence, told FoxNews.com. "It is quite worrisome to have individuals with specialized military training and combat experience being associated with the cartels."
Three incidents have been reported, including one where federal agents used a sting operation to take down a former Army lieutenant who eventually agreed to carry out a cartel hit for $50,000 and some cocaine.
