$52.6 Billion Spent on Intelligence
By Harold Hutchison
The “black budget” that details how much is spent on the various agencies in the United States intelligence community is now out in the open. Several media agencies have now been discussing the amount of the budget.
Details of the $52.6 billion budget were reported on by media outlets due to leaks by self-proclaimed whistleblower Edward Snowden. The budget is kept secret as it contains details not only what the intelligence community knows, but also where “gaps” in knowledge exist.
The CIA had a $14.7 billion budget in 2013, the largest budget among the 16 agencies.
