Muslim Brotherhood Arms Street Militia
By Harold Hutchison
The Muslim Brotherhood is arming a street militia as Mohammed Morsi continues to be the subject of massive demonstrations calling for his resignation. The demonstrations, in Tahrir Square, have been going on since 30 June, the one-year anniversary of Morsi taking power.
The group supporting the demonstrations claims to have a petition with 22 million signatures demanding Morsi’s resignation. The Egyptian military has sided with the demonstrators, giving Morsi a 48-hour deadline to comply with the demands of the people.
The Muslim Brotherhood, however, has been arming a street militia with Molotov cocktails, sticks, and helmets. Is Egypt getting closer to a civil war?
