Quick Action Saves Woman In Car Accident

A Special Tactics Airman’s training kicked in and his actions have been cited as having helped save a woman’s life near Pope Field.
Maj. Francis Damon Friedman, with the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, came upon a car accident and went into help. He discovered a woman trapped in her vehicle, and acted. He lead three others to clear tree limbs to clear the vehicle, and then went inside to render first aid to the woman.
When rescuers arrived, Friedman had provided first aid, and was taking to the victim.
“The gentleman was asked if he wanted to come out (of the truck) which he denied," Capt. Steven Barker of the Spring Lake Fire Department said. "By doing this it spared us an extra person to assist in the extrication process."
The woman was extracted from the disabled vehicle. Friedman said, “I was doing exactly for that lady what any of my operators would do for me. Any one of my guys would do that, and that's just our breed in special tactics. I am just honored it was my time to help."
