AN OVERREACTION, OR SOMETHING ELSE?
Photo of Child Holding a Gun Creates Incident

A photo posted on Facebook lead to a tense encounter between New Jersey officials and a family in the state with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. The photo, of 11-year-old Josh Moore holding a .22 rimfire rifle, was posted on the family’s Facebook page by his father, Shawn.
According to a report by TheBlaze.com, after the photo was posted, a worker with New Jersey’s Department of Youth and Family Services appeared at the house near Carney’s Point, New Jersey, with four police officers. The worker made threats to “take away” Moore’s kids after being denied entry into the home.
Moore was a member of OpenCarryDelaware, a forum dedicated to promoting open carry of firearms in Delaware. His attorney, Evan Nappen, expects that the DYFS will still try to get access to the home, and to bring a search warrant.
As for the child in question? Josh Moore told Fox & Friends, “When they showed up, it was seriously getting me really mad about that one.” He also describes himself as “a pretty good shooter.”
