The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Martin Pert, is believed to have suffered only minor injuries when he ejected from the aircraft after it came down at Kandahar airfield at about 10.30am local time on May 15th 2009.

Fort Lee, where the headquarters of the Army’s Combined Arms Support Command is located, was locked down briefly this morning. The lockdown came after reports of an active shooter were released. The shooter turned out to be a female soldier who had shot herself.
