Support Marines, Royal Air Force celebrate partnership in Afghanistan

As part of Operation Rawhide II, an initiative intended to interdict and disrupt enemy activity along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 was tasked with building forward arming and refueling points near the city of Bahram Cha, Afghanistan.

But MWSS-373 did not face this task alone. The Miramar, Calif., based squadron found helping hands from across the Atlantic in the Royal Air Force’s Tactical Supply Wing.

Blast at Yemeni Ammunition Factory Kills at Least 78 People

Yemeni witnesses say an explosion at an ammunition factory looted by civilians in the southern province of Abyan has killed at least 78 people and injured dozens of others.

The witnesses say the blast happened near the town of Jaar on Monday, as residents were stealing ammunition from a factory raided a day earlier by Islamic militants who took control of the area.

The militants seized ammunition from the factory and left, enabling looters to enter. It was not clear what triggered the explosion. Doctors say many of the injured suffered burns.

ISAF Joint Command morning update

A joint Afghan and coalition force captured a Taliban improvised explosive device facilitator and detained several suspected Taliban insurgents in Pul-e Alam district, Logar province, yesterday.

The Taliban facilitator was responsible for the acquisition, construction and dissemination of IEDs and has been involved in numerous attacks against Afghan civilians and Afghan and coalition security forces.
