Russia Accuses Chechen Militants of Airport Bombing

Russia's Investigative Committee has announced it will prosecute at least two suspected terrorists for the bombing of the Domodedovo airport in January, killing 37 people.

Spokesman Vladimir Markin told reporters Tuesday that investigators have decided to bring charges against Chechen militant leaders Doku Umarov and Aslan Byutukayev.

Umarov has previously claimed responsibility for the bombing in a video posted online. He has also claimed to be behind the bombing of a Moscow subway train a year ago.

A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft and guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG-52), engaged Libyan Coast Guard vessel Vittoria and two smaller crafts March 28.

Afghan and coalition security forces killed one insurgent and detained several other suspected insurgents during clearing operations in Qush Tepah district, Jowzjan province, yesterday.

Joint security forces targeted a bunker and cave complex during a clearing operation to prevent insurgents from using the area as a safe haven for coordinating and staging attacks. The clearing operation resulted in one insurgent killed and several suspected insurgents detained for further questioning. Initial reports indicate no civilians were harmed during the operation.

As part of Operation Rawhide II, an initiative intended to interdict and disrupt enemy activity along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 was tasked with building forward arming and refueling points near the city of Bahram Cha, Afghanistan.
