Project Gunrunner: "Who knew what and when?"

How high up does ‘Project Gunrunner’ go? (Who knew what and when?)

The Project Gunrunner scandal took another step up the government food chain with last night’s disclosure in a CBS News interview with a former senior official with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that the operation was approved by someone in the Department of Justice “even higher than ATF Director Kenneth Melson.”

Gunmen Kill 13, Kidnap Dozens in Pakistan

Pakistani officials say gunmen have opened fire on vehicles carrying Shi'ite Muslims in the country's restive northwest, killing 13 people.

Police are blaming Taliban-linked militants.

Authorities say dozens of others were kidnapped during Friday's attack in the Bagan area of the Kurram tribal region, near the Afghan border.

Officials say the vehicles were traveling on the main road that connects Kurram's main town, Parachinar, with Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, when they were ambushed.

Zimbabwe Energy Minister Arrested Again

Zimbabwe's Energy Minister Elton Mangoma has been arrested for the second time in two weeks on corruption charges.

Officials say he was re-arrested on corruption charges in Harare on Friday for his alleged involvement in a deal to buy electrical equipment. Mangoma's lawyers deny the charge.

Mangoma had been free on bail from his previous arrest on March 10 for allegedly abusing his office during a fuel purchase.

Mangoma is a member of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), a power-sharing partner with President Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF party in Zimbabwe's unity government.

The leader was actively involved in vehicle-borne improvised explosive device planning, attacks and assassinations against Afghan civilians, Afghan government officials and Afghan and coalition forces in Kandahar City. He was coordinating the acquisition of uniforms and ID cards to gain access to coalition bases.
