Mayors launch bus tour on Sandy Hook anniversary

Marking the six-month anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, Mayors Against Illegal Guns today launched its 25-state, 100-day “No More Names: National Drive to Reduce Gun Violence” bus tour while 16 states have adopted more user-friendly firearms laws and the Nevada governor yesterday vetoed “universal background check” legislation.

A total of 57 Senators voted for a motion to table his amendment, which would have required that the White House would certify “effective control” over the southwestern border before any of the 11 million illegal immigrants could be legalized.

Erdogan Issues “Final Warning”

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a final warning to protestors in Gezi Park. The Islamist leader has been facing nearly two weeks of protest that have, at times, turned violent.

Erdogan has urged parents to “please take your children in hand and bring them out,” according to a report by VOA News. He has been in power since 2003, and since then has been jailing journalists to the point that Turkey, a NATO ally, is now regarded by the Committee to Protect Journalists as the worst in imprisoning journalists.
