A woman whose work in a Wilmington, Delaware, laboratory lead to the vests that have saved the lives of thousands of soldiers and cops died Wednesday, 18 June. Stephanie Kwolek was 90 years old.

COAST GUARD SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSION

The Coast Guard located and rescued two people Sunday, June 15, 2014, that were reported missing after a 21-foot fishing boat sank near Kiptopeke State Park. A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., was able to locate one person who had swam ashore and found a second person in the water approximately 2 miles west of Kiptopeke. The Jayhawk crew hoisted both people into the helicopter and took them to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
