MOFFETT FEDERAL AIRFIELD, Calif. (AFNS) -- California Air National Guard members based here successfully demonstrated coalition personnel recovery operations using net enabled data link capabilities during the U.S. Joint Forces Command Exercise Bold Quest 2009 Oct. 27 to Nov.

Under the cover of night, a CH-46E “Sea Knight” hovered 40 feet above the ground as Marines rappelled from it one by one during a training mission aimed at preparing pilots and the Marines for night operations in combat zones. Aircrew with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, flew the Sea Knight through the darkness to improve their night flight proficiency and helped the Marines complete the Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques course, here Oct.

One of the two missing U.S. soldiers was found by a military dive team yesterday in Western Afghanistan. Afghan-international forces continue to search for the other soldier missing since, Nov. 4.

Lance Cpl. Kyle Lejeune quietly withdrew from the podium after reading Lt. Gen. John A. Lejeune’s words to hundreds of 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit members Nov. 10. He said reading his great-great grandfather’s historic message during a Marine Corps birthday celebration was something he always wanted to do.
