Hijacking Overshadows Counter-Terror Success
By Harold Hutchison
An oil tanker was hijacked off the coast of Nigeria, the 19th pirate attack off the West African country this year. In the attack, a number of crewmen from Nigeria and Pakistan were taken from the MT Matrix.
The attack, the latest in an increasing number in the Gulf of Guinea, overshadowed a counter-success by the Nigerian government. The government managed to break up a terror attack in the city of Maiduguri in the northeastern part of the country, where violence Christian and Muslims has often occurred.
