Hijacking Overshadows Counter-Terror Success

An oil tanker was hijacked off the coast of Nigeria, the 19th pirate attack off the West African country this year. In the attack, a number of crewmen from Nigeria and Pakistan were taken from the MT Matrix.

The attack, the latest in an increasing number in the Gulf of Guinea, overshadowed a counter-success by the Nigerian government. The government managed to break up a terror attack in the city of Maiduguri in the northeastern part of the country, where violence Christian and Muslims has often occurred.

Washington Secrets columnist Paul Bedard, writing for yesterday’s Washington Examiner, noted that bowhunters are getting into the Second Amendment fight, which does not appear to be much of a “secret” nor should it surprise members of two popular Northwest hunting forums: Hunting-Washington and HuntFishNW.

ISAF captured ten insurgent leaders or facilitators over the last four days, including Haqqani high-profile attack facilitators in Logar and Paktiya provinces, a senior Taliban leader in Helmand province, and a Taliban improvised-explosive device cell leader in Kandahar province.

ISAF also reported that a combined patrol of ANA Special Forces, Afghan Local Police, and ISAF forces killed 22 insurgents in a firefight near Sujja Ahmand village in Ghazni province.

Pegasus brigade remembers fallen aviators

Fort Bragg, N.C. – The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade honored their fallen Paratroopers during All-American Week as Soldiers, Families and friends rededicated the brigade memorial, May 21.

82nd CAB Commander Col. Mike Musiol and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry D. Farmer placed a wreath and Pegasus Brigade Families and aviators placed roses at the memorial in honor of each of the brigade’s aviators who have fallen in combat.

Cuomo to N.Y. Sheriffs: Keep Quiet About Gun Law

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo invited representatives of the New York State Sheriff’s Association to meet with him and discuss issues with the recently passed “SAFE Act.”  At least that’s what the sheriffs thought the meeting would be about.
