MWSS-172 Conducts EOD Training

Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 conducted a class on different types of explosives for U.S. Marines from various units in support of Exercise Ssang Yong 14 at Suesongri Range, Pohang, the Republic of Korea, March 28, 2014. Exercise Ssang Yong 14 is conducted in the Republic of Korea to showcase a full spectrum of amphibious operations while showcasing sea-based power projection in the pacific. The class that the EOD Marines gave included Thermite grenades and C-4 plastic explosives.

Blinked “Torture” During North Vietnamese Propaganda Broadcast.

Jeremiah Andrew Denton, Jr., the naval aviator who during his captivity told the world that the North Vietnamese were torturing prisoners of war, passed away today. He was 89 years old.

According to media reports, Denton passed away in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he had been receiving hospice care. After his naval career, during which he reached the rank of rear admiral, Denton served one term in the United States Senate, representing the state of Alabama.
