βIn battle, the only shots that count are those that hit.β This quote is from a speech given by President Theodore Roosevelt at Haverhill, Massachusetts on 26 August, 1902. This quote is often used when discussing military marksmanship, but it leaves out the second half of the sentence: β...and marksmanship is a matter of long practice and intelligent reasoning.β
