ACC Airmen prepare for Hurricane Irene

National Hurricane Center officials issued a number of advisories for the East Coast Aug. 25 in preparation for Hurricane Irene.

Airmen, civilian personnel and their families at Air Combat Command units and installations near the projected path of a hurricane should take steps to adequately prepare, said the Air Combat Command emergency management functional manager.

"You want to make sure you have a stockpile of supplies readily available at your home that can be used to sustain you for approximately three days," said Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Hatcher.

Countering Improvised Explosives

Redstone Arsenal has helped form the nation's new strategy against improvised explosives devices.

Military and public safety bomb squads participated Aug. 15-19 in an interoperability exercise at the Hazardous Devices School. The Department of Army resourced it while the school did the planning and execution.

VFA-94 arrives in Kadena, Habu Fire II kicks off

NAHA PORT OKINAWA, Japan — Navy airmen from Strike Fighter Attack Squadron 94 arrived in Okinawa via High Speed Vessel Saturday to participate in exercise Habu Fire II here.

Habu Fire II is a joint-training exercise where VFA-94, Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 214 and 18th Fighter Wing work together performing and improving efficiency in air-to-air operations.

This course is unique because it allows Marines, Navy airmen and Air Force airmen the opportunity to work together and learn how each branch accomplishes the mission.

U.S., Thailand, Singapore officials to begin Cope Tiger 2010

Aviation and ground units from the U.S. Air Force, the Republic of Singapore air force, and the Royal Thai Air Force and Army, will participate in the Cope Tiger 2010 field training exercise March 1 through 12 in Thailand. Cope Tiger is an annual, multilateral, aerial force exercise conducted in the Asia-Pacific region that includes humanitarian and civic assistance programs. The exercise takes place at Korat and Udon Thani Royal Thai Air Force Bases in Thailand.
