Turkey has touched off a major kerfluffle among NATO countries after selecting a Chinese surface-to-air missile system for purchase. The decision has drawn criticism from numerous quarters.
According to media reports, Turkey has chosen the HQ-9 system, which is comparable to the Russian S-300 SAM. The manufacturer, China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation, has been subjected to sanctions for doing business with Iran, which has purchased anti-ship missiles from the company.
