PROBLEMS WITH USS FORD?

Carrier May Not Be Ready Until 2019

The USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), which was supposed to replace the prematurely decommissioned USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in 2016, may not be ready until 2019, and is costing $1.3 billion more than planned, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office. The carrier, which is the lead ship of a new class, has seen delays of as long as four and a half years in testing some of its systems.

$52.6 Billion Spent on Intelligence

The “black budget” that details how much is spent on the various agencies in the United States intelligence community is now out in the open. Several media agencies have now been discussing the amount of the budget.

Details of the $52.6 billion budget were reported on by media outlets due to leaks by self-proclaimed whistleblower Edward Snowden. The budget is kept secret as it contains details not only what the intelligence community knows, but also where “gaps” in knowledge exist.

Senior Enlisted Man Fired Over Religious Views

The Air Force is being accused of trying to cover up the fact that a senior enlisted Airman was fired over his religious beliefs. Now, Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk has filed a complaint about his removal.

According to a release by the Liberty Institute, a formal equal opportunity complaint has been filed against Major Elisa Valenzuela, Monk’s commander at the time. According to the complaint, Valenzuela removed Monk from his position after he could not agree with re-defining marriage to include same-sex couples.

An activist who has been seeking to censor religious expression by Christians has resumed his fight against an essay posted by a chaplain that was recently restored. Lt. Col. Kenneth Reyes had written the essay “No Atheists in Foxholes, Chaplains Gave All In World War II.”

In a release announcing the naming of the 17th Littoral Combat Ship, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus claimed it would be “the third ship to bear the name. The previous Indianapolis is best known for its role in World War II, where it operated from Pearl Harbor and throughout the Pacific escorting convoys and attacking enemy submarines.”
