Obama Ready To Decimate America’s Defenses

The Obama Administration is ready to gut America’s armed forces with deep cuts that include military pay and benefits, as well as dumping the entire force of A-10 Thunderbolt II close-air support planes. The announcement is slated for Monday.

Navy Officer, Senior Enlisted Advisor, Relieved

The commanding officer and senior enlisted advisor of the Navy Ordnance Testing Unit were relieved of their posts after local strip clubs were allowed to sponsor a golf tournament to raise funds for that command’s Submarine Birthday Ball.

Hero of 73 Easting to Get Third Star

H. R. McMaster will be promoted to lieutenant general, a promotion that did not seem likely seven years ago, when he was twice passed over for brigadier general.

According to a DOD press release, McMaster’s new assignment will be to serve as deputy commanding general, futures/director, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Incident Occurs Off Turkey

The frigate USS Taylor (FFG 50) ran aground off Turkey just over a month into a planned seven-month deployment. The ship is one of seventeen such vessels still in United States Navy service.

According to a report by the Navy Times, the Taylor ran aground on 12 February while attempting to dock near Samsun, Turkey. No injuries were reported.

The Obama Administration is vowing to set a “red line” regarding Iran’s ballistic missile programs – even as Iran vows it will not negotiate over them. This comes after Iran tested two ballistic missiles.

The 31st MEU Practices Urban Combat

Marines and Sailors with the Combined Anti-Armor Team of Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducted force-on-force urban combat training at a Military Operations in Urban Terrain training facility using Special Effects Small Arms Marking System paint rounds. The platoon split into teams of approximately 15 Marines, with one team defending the facility while the other attempted to eliminate the defenders.

Pentagon Seeking $4 Billion Hike

The Pentagon is seeking an increase in funds for missile defense, with the funds going towards both a new radar and possibly a new kill vehicle for the current ground-based interceptors.

According to multiple media reports, the Department of Defense will ask for $4.5 billion more for missile defense over the next five years. Of that figure, $1 billion is intended to provide a new radar in Alaska, and $560 million is intended to design a new kill vehicle.

31st MEU Night Airborne Raid on Enemy Location

A night airborne raid was conducted by the Weapons and Golf Companies of Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, on a notional enemy-held town at a training range aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa. The raid was in support of the 31st MEU's "MEUEX," a week-long exercise that tests the operational capabilities of the MEU in conjunction with its subordinate units, including the BLT and aviation combat element. The training raid force utilized night vision goggles as they landed and swept through the town in pitch black night.
