By Harold Hutchison

Bradley Manning was convicted by a military judge on five counts of espionage, among other charges, and could face over a 100 years in prison. Manning was acquitted on charges of aiding the enemy.

Manning had earlier plead guilty to 10 counts of misusing classified data, which would have lead to a prison sentence of as much as 20 years. He claimed he had “wanted to start a debate” about American foreign policy by handing hundreds of thousands of documents to Wikileaks.

The verdict was delivered by a military judge. Sentencing will take place Wednesday.
