Media Matters for America has stated that the SEALs who have formed Super PACs that have aired advertisements critical of Obama's boasting in the wake of the May, 2011 raid that took out Osama bin Laden "don't have guts."

According to a report from the Daily Caller, Media Matters Eric Boehlert mad ethe comment via twitter, claiming that the SEALs' criticism was part of "a GOP, anti-Obama campaign."

The comment from Media Matters, which was founded by David Brock in 2004, has touched off a firestorm of controversy.

"Dear God: All I ask before I die is that you let me witness Eric Boehlert call a Navy SEAL a coward to his face," wrote Sonny Bunch, the managing editor for the Washington Free Beacon.

Scott Taylor, who served as a SEAL for eight and a half years, and who heads the group Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund, also took issue with Boehlert's comments. "We’re clearly not gutless. We’re in the public right now, completely out there," he told the Daily Caller.

"I wonder how many of this guy’s close friends he’s buried."
